has anyone experienced this? problem appears in no. 1 cylinder. no oil and coolant mixing head has also been crack tested and was fine

Why do you think it's #1 related? What did the head gasket look like when it was pulled? Was the head magnafluxed or pressure tested?
testing isolated that cylinder as having the problem. head was pressure tested. cold to 75psi pressure
