just got my '04 Tacoma rebuilt with a new frame- amazing!
the mechanic said no other company would have done that- I wonder if that's true
any way, it's nice that they did it

I got it one better. I was part of the buyback in 08.
Paid 11K for a 00 Taco in 05. Kept it for three years, had the left read quarter banged in, got paid for that and then Toyoy bought it back and gave me 18.5k for it.

Was i t a rust replacement? I thought that program was done. Did it cost you?

THAT's why they stoped the buybacks
I got an e-mail from Toyota that started someting like "our records indicate that your Tundra may have fram rust problems but does not qualify for ..blah, blah, blah". They offered me to get it inspected *at the Toyota Dealer* and if required the frame would get dealer anti-rust oiling and/or repairs (forget the details). Anyway I got me an appointent, they looked in the computer and 'noticed' that I could also be due for an oli change before telling me that the previous owner had already gotten the ispection and the antirust treatment done. So I asked "if that's in you f****ng computer then why did you put me throught all this hoopla to get an appointment and drive 80-km to get here?".
