My T100 got hit!

You could always junk the factory bed for a custom flatbed. Personally, I find they look better and are more functional.

But if you want a new truck anyway, just take yours to some repair shop, have them slap it back together, and trade it in.

FYI: Your truck will never be what it was worth before, and the only money you will get out of it from the other person's insurance will only be enough to cover paying for some lame repair job. You will not recover the depreciated value of your truck, your time lost, or the inconvinience you experience.

If anyone really upsets you, just ram their vehicle with yours, say, "Oh gosh! I'm sorry. Here's my insurance card." Then drive off leaving their world a wreck for the next several weeks.

Bummer. Are you sure about the collision damage repair location? Out here in CA you do not have to accept the insurer's repair facility, or even match their price.

Thought I'd give an update. Got 1 estimate yesterday for $2151. A rear bumper had to come from Toyota no aftermarkets available. For an additional $1000 I can get the whole truck painted. Is it worth it for a truck with

That all boils down to what you want to do, how much you like the truck, and how good of a truck it has been.

If the truck has been good, you should easily be able to push another 100K miles out of it.

If you got another, would you trade this one in or sell it out right? What is the Kelly Blue Book

So, what do *you* want to do? Get a new truck with a car note, or patch the truck and keep driving it?

For a rear bumper, price some welding shops to see what they'd charge you to build a custom bumper.

I just bought my '95 T100 this past winter, with 180K miles, for $2500. I've put another $2K into it, and expect it to last another decade.

IMHO, a vehicle with a quarter million miles on it has earned its keep, but doesn't merit spending $3K+ worth for non-mechanical repairs

I would look at the math. take the cost of fixing your truck with the cost of a new one. If your in a situation where money is tight then get it fixed. If money is better get a new truck.

If it were me, I'd take the money, keep the truck, junk the bed, get another bed, have a local body shop match it and paint it...

The way I see it, even if you've got a vibe and can't find it, it could be a tire, a bushing, you name it... not enough to let go of the truck... My truck is a 98 taco SR5 V6 4x4 w/ 294k+ and it too needs work.... but it's a daily driver, always been reliable...

Unless your frame got twisted, you'll probably be ok with it... whether you go flatbed or get another bed, I'd take the money...

UPDATE! After seeing the adjuster Saturday morning and getting a check that will cover about 2/3s of the needed body work, I decided to trade old Betsy in on a 2005 Tundra with 30000 miles on it. Having a payment after not having one for 4 years will be a change but it is a very nice truck.

thanks for all you opinions, they were all considered in my decision. I might have kept the T100 if my wife hadn't fell in love with the tundra. What is it with women and big trucks? Wormsign off

they let them feel bigger and allow for more grocery's and supply's for there honey do's.

And the dealer can either wholesale it out with the body damage, or fix and sell it. A simple bed swap, if he can find one.

Don't be surprised if you see a local gardener or service person driving it around the area for another dozen years - they don't care what it looks like, as long as it works.

Groceries? Hell, she still wants to send you off for a half-ton of mulch and fertilizer for her garden, and then you know what you're doing the rest of the weekend.

And next weekend it'll be two trips with plastic pipe and a rented trencher to do the sprinklers, then next week three trips with those bulk pallet-bags of soil amendments and towing the big rototiller home, and the weekend after that five trips, with a pallet of sod each trip... ;-P
