i had same issue on my 2001 go toyota dealer and spend the dough to get the factory harness and yes you need the fuse box is just a single fuse holder that bolts on to the positive side of the battery. it's a no brainer to install works perfect
My aftermarket harness by Wesbar (Drawtite, Reese, HiddenHitch...all same company) is as good as a dealer harness.
Note that the 2000 Tundra takes a different harness than other years.
