Tips on buying a 2003 Tundra

I would get the Carfax... what the heck. It's a big purchase; better to be sure. Unless this guy is a really, really good friend who you KNOW has not been in an accident.

As far as the mileage, that's about ideal mileage to see. On the low side, but it got driven regularly, it would appear, which is a good thing. Does the seller have any maintenance records? Hey, EVERYONE changed their oil every 3000 miles when it's a vehicle they are selling! :-/ You want proof. That's my one fear with a lease, is that the "owner" didn't give a crap since they knew it wasn't gonna be their problem long-term.

If the owner was required to do, or just plain did, the factory service intervals and can document it, then all that's left is price. As I understand it, lease buyouts are on the high side of what a vehicle is worth, which is why most people don't buy them out, so watch out for that.

I love my '06 Tundra SR5. Great truck. Basically as long as the PO changed the oil 4 or 5 times and didn't wreck it, it should be a great truck for you.

Keep in mind that there was a recall on the front end. Cost me a set of tires and brake job before they recalled it. They replaced the gas intake valve on my 03 after I complained about the engine warning light.
