I know its probably been asked before but I cant seem to find info on the older Toyota trucks and what they can safely tow. I am looking at a 1987 22R based Toyota truck (manual shift) and want to know if it can safely tow a race car I have (car and trailer would weigh under 2600 pounds) or if I should hold out and get a newer car with the 22RE or the 6 cylinder.
I have been a big fan of older Toyotas for some time and when the need came up for me to get a "tow vehicle" a older Toyota came to mind. I just want to make sure im not going to be asking more of the truck than it wants to give =)
Any input , ideas, or ways the a older 22R trucks can be made to better handle towing the 2600 pounds I need it to would be greatly appreciated !
