trailer wiring on a Tundra truck

Hello. This may be a dumb question, but how do you wire a trailer up to the Tundra since it has different lights for the turn indicator and another light for the stop lights? My trailer only has 4 wire connector, 1 for left stop 1 for right stop l for tail , and 1 for ground. So how do you get this thing wired so everything works? Thanks,Gary

If there is a towing kit installed, it should have a connector installed near the hitch. It will either be a 7 pin round or a 4 pin flat connector (which will fit your trailer connector). If it is a round 7 pin you will need an adapter to mate the 7 pin to the 4 pin trailer connector. With either of these connectors factory installed there is a built in converter for the different stop/tail trailer configuration.

If you have no connector on the truck, you will need a tail light converter and connector, and you will have to tap into the truck wiring. The converter uses the stop, tail, right signal, and left signal lines with diodes or other logic circuitry (and perhaps some relays) to feed the stop/tail combination on the trailer.

I would check with Toyota first to see if there is a kit that is made especially for your truck. Auto parts dealers carry these kits too.
