TRD

Hi;

Can someone explain exactly what Toyota does to a truck to give it the "TRD" classification? I'm looking to purchase a used Tundra and just want to know what constitutes the Toyota Racing Development price difference.

Thanks

What I understood from the salesman is the TRD included decals and tires designed for off-road. I disliked the decals and the tires looked like they had very little hydro-planning properties so I passed up the TRD and bought the non-TRD Tundra.

I converted a non-TRD Tacoma into a TRD Tacoma (minus the flashy decals) for a lot less than Toyota wanted for the same thing. Actually I got a better TRD because the aftermarket Bilsteins are better than the Tacoma Bilsteins.

Maybe he works the Scion desk.

Apparently the salesman isn't aware of locking and limited slip diffs, seats, shocks, inverters, etc... that also may be part of certain TRD packages?
