Offroad is set up with different springs to facilitate offroading. Sports are set up for the street.

Since everyone else is top-posting.... :)

Tundra TRD Sport has a rear swaybar, offroad does not (bad for articulation). Dunno about the Taco.

BTW: Tundra TRD Offroad has limited slip.

On the Tacoma:

Sport - Hood scoop, larger wheels + lower profile tires, colored bumpers.

Offroad - No scoop, chrome bumpers, smaller wheels + higher profile tires.

Springs and shocks also differ between the two, both wheel combos have almost the same final diameter of approximately 32".

I actually drive my truck off road, so I prefer smaller wheels and taller tires, as they grip better on loose stuff and can be aired down more on sand without losing the bead. The Sport's setup actually holds the paved road better, but as it's a solid rear-axled 4x4 truck, it's still no sports car.

Nothing kills off-roading and loose surface driving faster than low profile tires. I actually would have preferred 15" wheels and even higher sidewalled tires, Ala the Chevy Colorado's and older Pathfinder's off-road packages.

4x4 SUV's with 24" wheels and ultra low profile tires are very entertaining to watch in snow storms!
