I got a new car and will only use my 1988 22R 2 BBL carb 2wd Toyota Truck (with 150,000 miles) maybe once a week. I live on the East coast and was wondering if there is anything I can do as far as maintenance so she will keep on running well. For the first time it will no longer be running everyday and hope this doesnt do any damage to her.
Also I have never changed the timing chain. Is this something I should consider doing and if not how much longer can I get on the chain?
Just parking the truck for a week or two is no problem. Be sure to run it long enough to get everything thoroughly warm and drive out any moisture that it picked up while parked.

If it is in fact a *chain*, and not a belt of some sort, it should never need replacing.

chains can stretch, may take 150,000+ miles. What's common on 85+ 22R engines is the cheasy plastic chain guides which break and then the chain will flop around either breaking, or grinding it's way through the timing cover, water pump, or all of the above.
