From the symptoms you described in a previous email, it really seems that the firing order is wrong. You must check if the spark for each cylinder comes on the end (TDC) of it's compression stroke.

To identify the compression stroke for #4 (easilly accessible with your left hand), remove the plug and put your finger in the spark plug hole. Rotate the engine in it's normal direction (clockwise) untill you feel pressure building in there. Next turn on the ignition and verify that you got spark in #4's wire at the end of this stroke. After you have determined which of the plug wires corresponds to #4, the next wires (for #1, #2, #3) are located in anticlockwise order on the distributor cap.

If it turns out that the firing order was right, then verify the valve adjustment.
