1970 Automatic Type 3

Hi, At the base of both carbies (immediately above inlet manifold)there is a small bimetallic strip that opens a vent with a temp increase. Any idea on what they do, how to check calibration?. Never seen one on any other carby/vw. Cheers John


It's called the 'Idling air valve' or the 'Hot idle valve'. How it works, I don't know but it was exclusive to automatics.
