1974 Super Beetle Fasten Seat Belt/Brake light and Buzzer

On '74, there is a complicated seatbelt interlock relay and buzzer. It also disables the starter, although yours may have been bypassed.

Try removing the interlock relay. It's the big box plugged into the fuse block sockets. If the engine won't crank without the relay, look here on my website:

section:"Starter /seatbelt interlock wiring on '74 Type I (How to bypass it.)" It's an easy modification and shouldn't take a mechanic.

Have 1974 Super Beetle and the Fasten Seat Belt / Brake light will come on and off at random and the buzzer is iritating me.

Before I take it in to have the wiring checked... is anyone aqware of a fuse I may be able to remove to keep this buzzer from activating when this light comes on.

Incidentally, if the parking brake is engaged, the buzzer stops.

Please help me stop this buzzer!!!! Please!!!

I had the same problem with the buzzer when i picked up my last basket case of a vw. Nothing more annoying than that buzzer thing. Is a little

3/4" square cube under behind the fuse box. There are other similar items under there. I was able to feel it vibrating. Pulled it & pitched it into the woods!

My God I HATED THAT THING!

Yah, that's true on years other than '74. In this case they built it into the Interlock.

I just don't understand how everything else on a 30+ year old car needs replacing but that thing seems to be bomb proof?

Thank the U. S. Department of Transportation. And the US Congress.

If pro is the opposite of con, does that mean progress is the opposite of Congress?
