71 bug project pics

Instead of just lurking, I've decided to contribute something, and have posted some pics of my '71 (canadian, swing axle) standard bug project. This is my first attempt at doing bodywork, I've been learning (and buying tools) as I go. It's at the "primer" stage right now, maybe putting it on the net will light a fire under my a** and I'll actually finish it someday.

Thanks to all those who've created "resto" sites, as these have provided much inspiration over the course of this project. Maybe when I'm finished this build I'll do one. (but that would be another project. sheesh.)

Hi, Mike Greatly enjoyed your pics on the Bug restore. Cant help notice your MB lic plate and photo looks like Assiniboia Downs in the backgound. I plan to photo my restore as it progresses. Just got myself a 'project' bug that may not be that intense a restore as you illustrate.

1974 VW Bug, 37,400 orig miles, safetied with all repair documents, Immobiliser (mpic) installed, new tires, brakes, new seats, engine rebuild....but needs body ($4400 spent on mechanical work in last three years while putting 660 MILES on it. Also needs some interior re-finishing and a good Yellow shiny paint job. Mike, I would like to communicate with you with questions of course if you dont mind sending me your email address. Cheers,
