AvGas in a Bug?

I thought it was earlier than '66... I ask because I'm still using the original engine in my '61... Hmmm, the previous owner could have changed the engine some time between the factory and when I bought it in the mid '70s... But I somehow doubt this as all the engine bits are correct for that year, including the air cleaner housing.

I fueled with 87 oct. "Regular" last weekend, and have noticed no change, except a lot more cash in my wallet. I suppose I've burned up thousands of $ on higher octane fuel.

MMmmm, sorry to say your statement is not 100% correct. Higher octane fuel does not necessarily burn slower, it resists detonation better...
