Bra on 1971 Std Bug screws up Hood Latch

Hi All

Has anyone out there ever installed a La Bra on a Std Bug? It would seem that you can't get the hood to latch with the bra. I did some adjusting and it's a good thing I had the spare tire out as it latched and would not open. A long screwdriver and opening up a drainage home in the spare well helped me to get it open, but I'm ready to toss this thing in the trash.

I guess I could drive around with the hood unlocked? After 6 years as a daily driver the front is quite beat up, but the rest of the paint still looks good, so this sounded like a good idea.

Has anyone found a good way to make the button latch tighter, and skip the lock feature?

Any tips at all would be much appreciated.

Bras are evil! they trap moisture and screw up your paint underneath!!!! even more so, they are fun to take off!

I've got one on my '69. The only thing I've found is that it will latch, but not lock. I haven't tried to lock it down, since I'm concerned I'll have a problem similar to yours.

I haven't found that moisture trapping is a problem. But then again, I live in the desert where any rain or moisture will dry out or evaporate long before it can do any damage

A boat cop who lives in the desert. Interesting life, Alan. I used to surf in Ruidoso.
