Brake reservoir relocation

Dec 17, 2004 6 Replies

I appreciate all the help I've been getting here with my drum to disc conversion. I am going with a dual circuit master brake cylinder and was wondering where a good place would be to re-locate the brake reservoir on my

66 Bug.

TIA, John

You can leave it right there.............IF you can find a '67 reservoir. ]

I put it where the original was. Next to the windshield washer container. In the spare tire well.

Be careful when running the flud lines to teh master, see that thay are secured in place, out of teh way of those steering components that move under the tank.

You need to cut the sheetmetal a little right under the reservoir to make room for the two outlets at the bottom.

That's the later one that mounts above the left fender; I suppose you can make it fit though. Jim

********* I used a '65 Barracuda master cyl. on Annie (the yellow baja). I had put the bus rear in it & had the huge rear drums, plus I don't care for the remote resevior & the associated leaks. It's a little hard to check/add the fluid, but it's up high enough so that it's not so bad. (pics of Annie in the photo section - & other places - on my homepage:
