Ran out of gas! EGAD. Gauge has been screwing up lately, showing full till about a quarter tank left, then bottom drops out. Time to go fuel up! Yesterday it didn't drop till it was totally empty, yuk, luckily a couple block from the station, with a couple a husky freeloaders nearby to push.
Does that sound like a malfunctioning sender or gauge? and How to check?

The first thing I decided when I finished rebuilding my 68 beetle was to pick one day a week to fill it up no matter what the guage read.
Wednesday - rain or shine - full or empty
then I bought a 2 gallon plastic gas can.
