I went shopping for sway bars for my bus yesterday. My friendly locals said that Swayaway stopped making them because they were breaking. I have seen two different ones advertised with no brand names given. Anyone with experiences good or bad? (68-79) TIA - Dave

helped me with mine. I had to have a sway bar that would clear a custom (deep) gas tank on a kit car and he got me the right one; a good 3/4" model that I can't imagine breaking. Shoot him an email. He won't sell you something that will break.

That's not true Tom. Part of the reason you end up having problems is because you never ask us for the easy stuff, you always "seem" to come to us after all other avenues have failed you; it's no wonder we have a tough time of it. I'm guessing other places just tell you "no, we don't have it", instead of bending over backwards to try to get you the part. If we have failed, at least we have tried!
I do admit that our record in your case is less then stellar, but I also think this is why. You never ask us for common stuff like plugs, wires, or simple stuff, it's almost always the obscure part that has been NLA for 3 years; of course we look bad when we can't come up with that one, but we do try at least.
To answer your question, SAW has discontinued the bus bars. We do have an alternate, but (once again) we are sold out right now, if you want one, we have more coming in 6 weeks. Bus swaybars aren't exactly flying off the shelves, but we do try to keep them in stock. I don't like tying up $ on stuff that mostly collects dust.

Duh; I meant David (not tom). sorry about that.

John, I appreciate the reply. As for your "That's not true..." statement, it's not correct. In each of the cases where there has been a problem, I have gone to you first and had no idea as to whether something was hard to get or not. The brake parts order that was screwed up was available from my FLAPS which is where I bought them (calipers and MC) The most recent item was a hazard warning switch and I had gotten a price and "Yes, we have it in stock" e-mail from another supplier before I ordered it from you. In that case, I was told I would receive a status report from you as to when I could expect it to be back in stock. It was that promise and failure to follow-up that irritated me that time. Heck, the very first order I placed with you was for plugs and points, if I remember correctly. You filled that order no problem. The second order, however, after I was told the CDI was in stock and would ship within a couple days, I waited a month before getting upset that you never got back to me and when I called you on it, you treated me like I had no right to be concerned! Then there was the insistance on your part that I was wrong about something on your website and I ended up donating a couple hours of my time to provide you with information that you initially refused to accept, insisting that you could not possibly be wrong and that I absolutely had to be wrong. I wasn't, was I? I still have all those e-mail messages. I try every few months to buy something from you, but only about 1/3 of the time is it fruitful. Thus far, I have never ordered a part from you that I had checked on elsewhere first and found it to be out of stock.
You have been very helpful to me in diagnoses over the years and I have supported you in this group all except for one incident and I think everyone involved in that had egg on their face. Even after the most recent episode, the hazard warning light switch, I have recommended you in a couple postings. I know it's not the norm for you, because you wouldn't still be in business if it was. I just can't figure out why! All I've ever gotten upset about is the follow-up (well, I did get upset about the wrong brake parts being sent after there was something else on that order that lit the fuse.) If I see something in your catalog, I assume you have it to sell. If you don't, I don't want confirmation that you've received my order etcetera; I want to know that you will be unable to ship for at least "X" days so that I can shop elsewhere for it. That has been my biggest and loudest gripe. I trust you more than any other online parts supplier. I feel safe in buying from you. I just get irritated as heck when you don't tell me you haven't got it! Almost every time I have ordered from you, I have been in a project with a timeline. If you don't have the part, I NEED to know that and I NEED to know it ASAP!
I have told you all of this before, but not in a public forum. I made my reply to JJS such that it could be interpretted by most that the problem is on my end, which, after some of my recent posts, they probably assume anyway! To call me out in front of the group with a flat out - I'll say, "misinformed hypothesis" (instead of the 3-letter word) wasn't cool.
Bottom line is, I would really like to be able to depend on you as my primary supplier, but thus far you have not been up to the task. Autovice Ltd. in Seattle has bailed me out every time you've let me down. I'll try again. Will you? Details ARE important!

Well, we will continue to keep trying, and hopefully all the "bad luck" for you is out of the way.
We are addressing some of your issues, it takes time (coding for real-time inventory the customer can see without asking us, for example). And we have had numerous headaches with OUR suppliers (the switch that was "in stock" was broken when it was time to ship, which is why an "in stock" item didn't ship) either being unreliable, going out of business, etc....
Back to the original item, SAW has discontinued the bus bars, and to the best of my knowledge, we are the only vendor in the USA carrying bus swaybars now that are worth a darn (my opinion). We are out of stock, but have more coming in 4 weeks. They have been selling at a decent rate since the mention of them in the HVWs came out last month, and that's why we are out now.
we take EVERY order seriously, and we don't mind one mistake, but when we screw up 2X (or more) we are flat-out embarrassed.

As I said before, you seem to be doing a good job for most everybody. In my line of work, every once in a while there is a job that we have to re-make. Then something else goes wrong and we have to re-make it again. Then something else, and I have to reorder material... And we try very hard and go step-by-step, checking each other's work and we still manage to mess it up once again! It is usually something that is just simple routine stuff, too. Luckily, those jobs are a rarity, and by the good things that are said about Aircooled.net in this group, my experiences are a rarity in dealing with you. I'm sure we both wish that rarity wasn't reality!
