hot engines

You guys who know me, know what I think of thermostats and flaps. I won't start a war or offend the " flap Gods" I hope but yesterday a good friend of mine stopped in with a very hot 68 van. He had checked timing etc. I put my hand to the back of the shroud and sure enough the old rod was stuck about half open. Since it is summer now guys, check your system...Especially if you do not drive it much in winter and live in a rust area. I did the same fix I've done for four decades now and the flaps are wide open all the time as intended to provide the air cooled engine cylinders a fresh, cool air flow as god intended in the beginning. It takes a few seconds, check it. Dennis

if it were truly intended, they wouldn't have all that "other stuff" connected to those flaps...
