I've just been reading the article about the stolen 65 Bus that was found after 35 years.
I was still in high-school, driving my 1970 convertible bug.

I was in highschool and I road a 1964 Honda CL72. I had the oldest and most beat up bike at my school but it was mine. Back then I could only dream about owning a bug...
What sucks about that story is the insurance company is getting it and will sell it at auction for top dollar...

As I recall, I was vacationing in Spokane, Washington... I spent most of my time drunk off my ass, but I do remember this one fun night when me and a couple of my friends spotted a 65 VW hippy bus sitting in the dark of the night, and we decided to hotwire it and take it out for a joyride....
:)
Nah, in 74 I was wetting my diapers and eating sand.
I'd been out of high school a year and was driving a hand-me-down from my father (and Oldsmobile F-85). I'd buy my first VW, a 1964 bug, a year later.

I was driving a yellow deuce coupe in Visalia and taking on all comers. The jawing with my nemesis Bob Falfa starts 1:00 minute into the video.
And 35 years from now, we'll be right back where we started. :P
