Intelligence test

I don't have the luxury of a second vehicle, so I use mine for commuting, however I only travel 4 miles to work, and I live right next to a train station! I drive to work perhaps twice a week, mostly because of the problems with demisting, and the frost in the mornings!

My primary "car" is my Motorcycle. I will be using the Bug as a fun backup car and a cruiser for now. Will also use it in the snow since my bike don't like the snow to much....*8-}

I have a 96 Golf, daily driver, Sonia owns it. Sometimes she lets me borrow it :). Used to have a 1976 bug as daily driver, but I sold it to pay house downpay (a very small part of it :) and now trying to get a 61 to run for daily driver use.

Open up the carb heat tube. Perhaps someone welded it closed, blocked it with a flat piece of metal, or it just clogged up with crud. Or do you have dual carbs. Shaggy had a piece of really fat copper wire wound around the carb stand to help transfer heat up.

Until now I was able to ride a bike around town if necessary, but these days I work too far away for that to be practical (the office is nearest by way of the interestate) and I need to be able to drive around for work. So I'm using my mother's Lumina while she uses my bus and I work on getting my Squareback back on the road. So I'll have two VWs to depend upon. However, it should be noted that until I hit a couple of bad mechanic experiences the Squareback was quite dependable for quite a while. The bus was also quite dependable for many months until it suddenly developed some troubles recently; it was its PO's sole transportation for a few years. I think it's currentn undependability is merely the ignition.

Yep, my '66 is my only driving car - my two Mini's haven't been roadworthy in my ownership (resto!).

I will drive it whatever the weather, rain, snow, ice or sun. The car even lives outside under a weatherproof cover, as it has done since new. And I can still win the shows ;-) Weekly washing of the car (including brushing the underside) and WD-40 on the chromework in winter helps a million.

I can only drive it in the holidays though, as I am at University with no car most of the year. I really miss driving...

I drove my '62 DeLuxe Type 1 for a decade and a half, daily, between infrequent lulls, from 1978--1993. Never had a heater that worked worth a damn, but in Texas, it isn't critical. At first, during one really bitter winter, I bought a big meerchaum pipe and stoked it up to use as a hand warmer (no kidding), finally buying a little commercial catalytic metal hand warmer. My car is RHD style, which is a little challenging with drive-up windows and seeing around big slow vehicles on the left (in those rare cases where I could actually pass someone).

I am just now getting the Beetle back on the road after ten years of hibernation, but my principal worry is the incredible speed and recklessness of current drivers--my po' little 40 horse might be a scant weak. I'll say this: if anybody ever rear-ends this car (again) I will beat them to death if the crash doesn't kill 'em.
