Lack acceleratio0n

Nov 11, 2003 2 Replies

I have a 74 beetle that I rebuild myself, after allot of painful moments is running again, the problem is that it takes a while to accelerates and I also notice that the side where cylinder 1 and 3 are get hotter than the side where 2 and 4 resides. Is this an indication? Any suggestions? The timing is ok. New heads and cylinders on both sides.

Cylinders are numbered like this:

FRONT

3 1 4 2

If one "side" is cooler (like 1 and 2), it is often due to poor sealing (air leaks) between the manifold and the head.

But first check the firing order and plug wires.

Thanks, I had 3 and 4 reverse on the spark plug wires.
