Name that Part !!

I was tearing into my steering column today and managed to get it into pieces but this piece which basically fell apart in my hand has me stumped.

I have a new turn signal/high beam that I'm putting in so I'm not sure what this does. That's a rubber tubing running off the back end by the wiring.

Any help would be appreciated,

Ok, forget that post, found out it is the wiper/washer switch. Cool, another 50 bucks for a part. But thanks for the help anyway.

I'm assuming the tubes run to the washer.

one comes in from the bottle and the other out to the nozzle on the cowl...

Thanks Joey. It would be so much easier if I saw how most of these parts came out, but the car was mostly stripped before I got her. So I'm flying blind her trying to piece it back together.

LOL..been there....but it is fun, and you will gain valuable experience in the "rebuild" that way....experience that will help with future cars...there are alot of rolling abortions out there and having the experience to not only fix them, but to recognize them, is priceless...

The sad part is that it was my oldest son who began "stripping" the car for it's paint job. So many of the bolts, screws, misc parts have disappeared along the way. Along with his memory of what goes where. Considering the huge pile of parts-in-a-box I've ended up with, I think I've done pretty well.....with this group's help of course !!!! Now if I could just find my two other bumper brackets LOL !!!!!!!

Susan,.................I don;t know if you're trying to be a purist here, or not. I do however, think that those 74 bumper brackets are not worth the headache.O recommend adapting 73 bumpers and using 73 model fenders on it. (th 73 has elephant foot tailights, and slotted bumper bracket holes.

( I have the steering column from the same 74 that I sent the wiring harness from., complete with switches I think)

Scott, I'd consider changing if I hadn't bought the bumpers. I know those shock brackets are around here somewhere but between the hurricane and my son "cleaning" out the storage building, God knows where they went off to.

I did manage to get the entire steering column off today and got it repainted. Also figured out how the new ignition system goes in, so all in all, it was a productive type day.

Even managed to clean out the drain holes in the doors LOL !!!

How did you fare with tropical storm Arlene? You still have damage from Ivan? I'm out in Crestview and hardly got any rain but was expecting to get nailed......

We've had harder rainstorms pass through than what we got with Arlene. I too was expecting some rough weather but with the exception of 6 or 7 hard gusts, she just wasn't much to worry about.

No, I don't have damage from Ivan, but I haven't recovered from the "pre-Ivan" preparations. Basically, my husband and son opened the shed door and everything in the yard and on the screen room were thrown in. LOL !!! So even finding a hammer is an hour ordeal here !

At least now I have my windows all in so I don't have to run out and tarp my car every time a cloud passes over.

Sounds like it's time to buy a new hammer!:~)

Here in Orlando they were telling us we'd have torrential rain, all weekend. Naturally I cancelled my trip to Sea World and what do you know... it waited until 6 pm on Saturday to DRIZZLE. Sunday the rain was a little harder, still not until late afternoon/early evening and nowhere NEAR torrential! The weathermen have become about as good at figuring out the weather as my creaky knee.

Yeah, but then you have to have the discussion about air compressors and everything else that goes along with that school of construction!

Personally, we've got mostly Paslode pneumatic equipment, from the roofing staple guns to the big framing nailers to the old style staple guns and a brad nailer (you might remember the old "Mustang" style of Paslode pneumatic guns?)

As for the hammer, just about the only kind that fits in my hand is from Estwing!:~)
