I ran the same on my Shovel for a year. Not a great choice. Besides, you would do better asking elsewhere. It's a sidedraft carb. We use downdrafts here.

Au contraire, the sidedrafts Dellorto DHLA's are easy to find and about
1/3 cheaper than their downdraft DRLA cousins. Parts can easily be found and they are relatively simple performance carbs. Probably teh most common aftermarket carb out there, along with Weber DCOE side draft.I have seen sidedraft DHLA being used in a type 1 engine, intake manifolds can be bought ready. They replace the dual port center section, but utilize the stock aluminum end castings. They have no pre-heat. The carb would "point" to the left, sitting next to the generator. A bit left from where the stock carb would sit. Not sure where to get these intake manifolds these days. The racers used to use them. (no need for preheat when the engine spends most of it's short life at over 4000rpms anyway)
