That's where I came from, from one extreme to the other! I have to create the processes and rules and templates etc. from scratch, to be able to have any sort of control.

Started it alright...
It's going pretty well, considering that the boss is on vacation and I have to scrounge and scrape pieces of information from left and right, to be able to deliver what's expected :) The guy I'm replacing quit, due to health reasons. The main project was already 2-3 weeks late at that point, and then they found out he had virtually nothing documented. So I have to backtrack AND take forward his project at the same time, with just one person there to help me, and she was hired only 3 weeks before me :D
Luckily the boss and department seems to be pretty laid back. Too much so in fact, since I need to create the processes, standards, templates, reporting & monitoring and workflows for my OWN work from scratch... haha! I hate too much bureucracy but some structure is necessary. I guess I'm lucky to be able to decide how I want to do my work.

You're working on all the specs ? I've heard of those things but never seen them.

What is this "structure" you speak of? :-P Sounds like life has gotten interesting for you. Enjoy it. :-)
