Geez, Mike, do I have to draw you a DIAPHRAGM?
The single hose you use for this maneuver/bizarre animal experiment is YOUR OWN !
....one thing:
if you are going to correct someones spelling of *MacGyver* you should learn to spell it correctly..
....glad I could be even more helpful in this thread. ;-)

Hahahahaha - I knew it didn't look right. I knew his was wrong, but I found about 8 different spellings on various web sites and just took a guess. they all looked wrong.
How do you know yours is right?

Thanks, Scott. It's been added to my Holiday Wish List.
More "MacGyver" stuff-
I burned out some points on the freeway once. Okay, had spare points, no big deal, I put them in, along with the condesor I had in said toolbox stash of parts. NOW, how in the hell am I gonna time it without a ligh? t(I had a test light in the toolbox, but something had hit it and knocked the bulb out) I had some wire,, and, as I was looking at the engine, right near the taillight, it came to me...okay, counter-clockwise until the brake light goes out, then clockwise until the brake light goes back ON... Voila. On my way.
If you open up the points a fair bit bigger gap than spec, and there's not a lot of noise around, you can hear the "tick" sound when they open - I always time mine static without a light using this method, and it seems to run A LOT better with the bigger point gap anyway.

If you've ever been on I-405,in Huntington Beach, or right near there, at about
4:30 PM on a friday afternoon, there's a fair amount of noise. It was Daylight Savings time, so I couldn't see the spark, either.
That's why you used the brake light and not the taillight?
Good idea anyway.
Who'd you get to step on the brake pedal?

One slight drawback, Inge is a male, Inga would be female...

Her parents can't spell. Filled out the birth certificate incorrectly.
I disconnect the oil sensor and connect that to the points. I can see the light through the back window...
I was in my Single Cab Transporter, couldn't see through the window, but on a Sedan, thats a good idea.
Good one Eduardo!! Never thought of that particular one.

but I read it right here one or two years ago. can't remember who came up with it. good to spread the word.
side story: about a year ago, a local bug-club had a meeting and I went there. guest of honor was a local mechanic that was supposed to teach how to time and carburate a bug. he did not show up, was out on the beach.
one of the bugs was in such a sorry shape I had to time it (was off 10 degrees retarded and arely ran). I ended timing around a dozen. I had almost no tools, so that oil light trick worked wonderfully well..
pictures of the line of cars waiting for me to time them...
look - a rain catcher on the inside of the deck lid! ( ive got one) lol other than that.... that alternator conversion looks like some thing from junkyard wars or monster garage... necessity is the mother of invention.
