Studded tires

These are studded 205/70s "Snowtrakker"s. They _should_ fit under a stock fender.

Mine are on their 2nd season and the studs are worn down a bit. They still work great though. Try not to use them unless it's bad out to conserve the studs.

I've given up my little dream of converting the Buell to studded tires in favor of studding up one of the Bugs - well, until someone disabuses me of yet another stupid idea. I'm pursuaded today because we have an icestorm so bad I can't even get to the lake a block away to do the ice driving. Hell, we can't even walk outside. It's that bad. Sure would be nice to drive around today - legal or not. The police tend to look the other way on days like this. They didn't mind when I chain up all four on the monster 4WD.

Cool? Studded tires for the Bug? Where to find 'em?

Okay, but I'll probably look like a fool trying to check them in at US customs.

Thanks for that. I forgot that you posted your snow bug once before. Those studs are very conservative compared to what we run on ice vehicles. I'd expect them to be more aggressive, but if you say they work, that's a good thing.

Pretty much like our street tires. The nastier studs were outlawed (street use) several years ago. These do still work pretty well, but also the tread design of the tire has improved and provides much more grip than the tires from 20 years ago... even if they were still made ;)

I could get you some with race studs... :)
