Tony,................if you want to search, there's a good possibilty ther are bugs to fit your need over off Cedar Creek lake,................I can;t remember which highway, but I'm sure I can find the info for ya..................last time I was out that way there was a bunch of Bugs of different year models at a place just before one of the crossings,...................I think in Seven Points, TX..........................might do some driving and see what you can come up with . It's agood time to start looking too, business has been pretty slow 'round these parts for car repair ( Ok,.............I know you're not in dallas, but I figure it's not a bad indicator of the north east texas areas )

Good luck , and I'll watch for a good project for ya too.

Any particular price range?????

Tonks64 is in Salt Lake City, and is about to come to terrorize our city with a full tilt 'street' 2332 of around 220hp.

Sorry it took so long to get back to answering. Been kinda busy. Think I know where your talking about on the bugs. Think its called Hyw.69 or 64 in north Tyler just as your coming in off of Interstate

  1. He restores them "Kinda" and sells them at his pace. I need to find a "individual" that has a 64 or below that would part with it at a sane price. Fixin to start school for the class A licence on the 15th of March and may never have time to work on a bug again,,ha. Once I finish the school I'm not sure just how much time I'm gonna have so It might be best for me to sit it out for a month or two cause of the money situation. Wife would kill me if I spent our food or rent money. But do keep a eye out. Thank you for replying. tony

I don't know. but I've put the car on a pretty serious diet. Lexan windows, front seats will be aluminum in 3 weeks, aluminum axle beam, lawn tractor battery, etc.

I just need to find some nice light rims! The ones that look good are too $*(#&#)&*B heavy!

it will have all fiberglass body panels NEXT spring with a new paint job, but not this year.

Seriously curious as to what you consider light, John. I'm looking, too. Race wheels okay? Carbon Fiber? Or has it got to be street wheels? What overall diameter and offsets?

Your "'64 or earlier" request is the hard part. I have a 65 in the backyard that has a mate for merging two into one..............both are fairly solid, but one is a little better and has a title. Both cars are right here in the neighborhood too. And are not going anywhere fast. Kepp it in mind.

good question.

Not sure. I really like the look of the BRMs, but those are HEAVY. I have to choose nice looking, OR light, it seems we don't have both. Something around

8-10lbs is acceptable. I have some 16" Forged Fuchs, but wanted a different look

I have the wide-five BRMs on th e'58 and am half considering drilling the spare's spokes just to see how light one can make it. Yeah, maybe I'll ruin it but life is short and I want to know. If you know it's a futile effort, please tell me before I do something stupid.

I checked out the CF wheels. In a word: DISASTER. Nobody will even sell what they have - liablity reasons is my guess. Mounting the tires was very difficult, too. The only CF wheels now available are for motorcycles and bicycles. No help.
