Hello,

I was inspecting the engine on my 70' bug and came across a cutted tube, pluged with a screw that I dont recognize and see the use too. It's not none of the gas lines but it connets bellow the carburater stand. Please check the pic and tell me what you think it iz, and if its safe to have it like that.

I use that port to send vacuum to the hot air door on my late-model aircleaner.

That's not the original engine for a '70. Later years used that vacuum port for controlling the vacuum diaphragm on the air cleaner as Halatos mentioned. Can't tell which air cleaner you have.

not used on your engine...get a proper vacuum cap, then clean that engine...a clean engine is a happy and cool engine...

hi, Got a standard air cleaner. No Vacuum connector. Maybe the car had one of those air cleaners in the past, but not anymore.
