Where to put wiring on Mexibeetle

Feb 07, 2004 0 Replies

We'll be picking up our Mexibeetle in March and are trying to determine how we're going to get the stereo in there. We have a JVC deck (single DIN) we're putting in and since I doubt this comes with pop outs on the side for the speakers, we'll just mount two in boxes behind the rear seats because we don't want to drill holes etc. Wondering if anyone can give some guidance (website etc.) on how to wire the thing. The main questions we have are:

1.) Does anyone know if there's already a lead from the batter up in to the firewall area to just plug in to.

2.) If the answer to number 1 is no, how would you guys suggest getting the wiring back to the battery for power and then up in to the dash board? For the antenae, we may use an internal dash mount but are as of yet undecided but that should be the easy part since that's all up front and we can just go behind the firewall to get to the outside antenae but we're not sure how to get back to the battery - In the tunnel or under the carpet (how easily does it pull up?)

Thanks for any info.
