Wretched squeak - rear wheel

I'm getting a horrible squeak/grind when my 74 Super rolls to a stop. It starts before I hit the brakes but becomes louder when I apply them. I'm baffled. I've jacked the car up, spun the rear driver's side wheel (where the sound seems to come from) but there's no nasty sound with the weight of the car off the wheel.

So, I took the wheel off and spun again but still no sounds. I'm not even sure where to look now. I saw another post that said the main nut may be loose but it seems to be really tight. My next guess is CV joints...any help, as always, greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Wretched squeaks in back are often caused by rust from the cast iron drum. The particles get between drum and shoes and are dragged around. Doubt that this is a CV problem.

You need a really hefty tool to remove the axle nuts; they're torqued to 250 Ft-Lbs !!! Personally, I'd live with it for now...
