By the way, they can be reindexed as long as the potentiometer has no flat spots, the spring and flap clearance become an issue of drivability over time, Just a thought, to maybe save you some time and money. I have found several flaps coming into contact with the housing over the years, and a simple mechanical adjustment was all they needed.
If you can wait...You might find some for sale at VW show swap meets. Usually relatively cheap compared to the $300 RMW & CIP sell them for.
