I currently have a 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo Wagon with 118k on it. The car is almost perfect in everyway. I am wondering about going to a 1997 Volvo 850 T-5 Wagon with 149k. Any suggestions if this would be a good move. Is the quality in one year better than the other? Is the T-5 a low pressure turbo? If so, does that make it more reliable? Do they have the same power? The T-5 seems to be in the same conditon as mine, what price difference should I pay, approximately (Cdn$)? Any suggestions or information appreciated. Doug

The rest of the world called the 850 Turbo "850 T5". In North America the 850 Turbo became the 850 T5 in 1997. So these 2 cars are basically the same, same power, same suspension, I don't see any benefit to you. You have a car with lower mileage, that you know the history of, that's "almost perfect in everyway." You end up with a car that's OBD-II compliant, where you need a special tool to read any trouble codes (check engine, ABS etc.) and turn off the service light, as opposed to being able to do it by pushing a button under the hood.
whats the last year volvo used the cable throttle vs. the newer (and getting famous) "electronic throttle body" in the 850/v70's ??

YM98 was the last year of cable operated throttles. YM99 then was the first year of fly by wire throttle.
