240 swap

Mar 25, 2006 2 Replies

Any problems swapping an engine from an '85 (160K miles) into an '89 (300K miles). Both 4 cyl, the '85 is turbo.

If the Turbo is a 240, then the fuel systems will be different. It can be done, but it requires extensive rewiring and other modifications. If you want a turbo engine in the later 240, you're much better off getting a B230FT from a 700 or 900 series turbo and dropping that in. You'll need the injection system from the donor car or you can run something like Megasquirt. It can and has been done, but it is not just a bolt in swap.
