99 S70 Central Locking

My central locking quit which includes gas filler door. All fuses are good in both boxes. Any ideas on what may be cattiwompus here? I know there's a control unit for it, but I'm not sure about a relay. Until I fix it, I don't know how I'm supposed to gas 'er up. Help, help.

The gas part is easy. You can open the gas filler door from the trunk. Just pull back the siding on the side of the gas filler door, and you'll see a metal rod with a loop on the end. Just pull that. You should be now be able to open the gas filler door.

Interestingly neither my 98 V70 (bought new) or my 98 S70 (bought used) have an emergency release. You can reach in there with a hook and release the fuel door that way. I've put my own emergency release on both cars.

Curious, my '99 S70 (bought used) has an emergency release. It looks v. similar to the emergency release on an '96 850 (bought new). And we've had to use them both.

Interesting. I have a friend with a 99 V70 whose electric fuel door release failed, and his car didn't have a manual release either. That's what made me put the release in my cars. My dad's '94 850 has the manual release though.
