Warm weather is near and the A/C compressor on my 740T is dead. I balked at $1000 r/r opting to consider doing the job myself (neighbor has freon reclaimation equipment). I am researching two questions before I get serious: 1) where can I find an A/C compressor? 2) what sort of job am I in for?

My sons went as expected soon after we brought it .$200.00 for a s\h replacement from a local Volvo mechanic inc gassing a fitting cheap as a gas is around $89.00 .thats Australian dollars about 79c US to our $1.00.Check your local volvo club or wreckers .
Last one I replaced was $29 from a junkyard, took about 40 minutes to swap it, then a couple hours to let the vacuum pump do it's thing and another half hour to charge it up with 3 cans of R134. Do replace the O-rings on the compressor lines and take care not to contaminate the system with any foreign matter.
