I live in South Texas and my a/c compressor runs all the time. At highway speeds, I have no problems with it. However in stop and go traffic it shuts down, and I have to leave it off for a few minutes before it restarts again. The it will run for a few more minutes and shut down again. Does anybody have any ideas?

It sound like a 'duff compressor". I''ve have one replaced on my Volvo XC70 this week.....not cheep, Steve From Scotland.......
Compressor over-heat switch??? If so, pretty common problem- bypass the switch.
