B230E injector bolts

Dec 13, 2005 4 Replies

Hi all,

I recently checked my 740's injectors and their seals for damage as I noticed that the injectors can be moved around in their sockets, a little more than I think they should.

The first three bolts came out easily but number four is *very* tight and I suspect it might break if I try any harder. If it does break when I try again is it an easy job to drill it out and replace it? It's easily accessible but I thought I'd check here first for potential problems.

As a suggestion, I would spray something like PB Blaster on the bolts involved and run through a couple heat cycles to allow the oil to penetrate, and hopefully, loosen the tight bolts.

Thanks - this worked with a stuck spark plug but they're a little more robust. This bolt feels like it's just the head turning, i.e. just before it gives up and breaks off, which is worrying. I'll definitely give it a try though.

Run the engine until it's nice and hot, the aluminum expands more than the steel bolt. If that still doesn't work, do the same, then hit the bolt with some freeze spray for electronics work, that should contract it quite a bit.

Now that's an idea. Thanks James.
