Any suggestions on best used volvo for less than 20 grand that has room in the back seat, has power and is four door? It could be a different maker as well, just not American. The "less than 20 grand" still applies.
Thanks for any info.
Bryce.

740 or 940 turbo. *Well* under 20 grand, comfortable, and durable. Either that or a Subaru Legacy or Legacy-Outback.

I've got a 2001 Outback (great car by the way), but I didn't want to duplicate cars. Any reason not to go for an S40-60-80? I can't find 740's and 940's without lot's of miles on them. Any main differences between the S's and 7-940's I should be aware about?
Thanks.
Bryce.

Best used Volvo for under $20,000... How about five $3,999 245's ? ;-)

I have a '94 940SE Turbo Diesel Estate with just over 150,000 miles on it. In another 50,000 it'll be run in. I wouldn't worry too much about high mileage on a diesel Volvo as long as it has been well cared for.
find, and drive a used v70r wagon... they are a sweet ride...(
Totally different cars. The S40/60/70/80 and V50/V70 cars are front-wheel-drive or front-biased AWD with transverse engines, which makes things tighter under the hood than in the rear-wheel-driven Volvos.
The S90/V90 are rear-wheel-driven, BTW, and are basically the same car as the 960 (with some rear-suspension changes, IIRC). I'd personally go for a V90 or a 940T. If I were in the market for a 240 or 740, those cars are known for lasting 250k or more miles. "High" mileage in the neighborhood of 150k isn't an awful thing if the car has been maintained acceptably.
Cheers, Andrew
S70 T5 would fit the bill, loads of power, roomy 4 door sedan, pretty similar to the 850.
But unless he's in Europe he can't get one of those anyway.
I'll sell ya my 240 for $19,999.
:-D
sure...s60, s70, s80 three slightly different "roominess" .. t5's all fast and responsive ...
I suggest that you check your local Autotrader or similar newspaper.
Not sure where you're located, but am assuming US.
There are several on-line catalogs as well.
If you were up here in Canada, I'd suggest autotrader.ca. That's where I picked up my 2001 V40 for $13000 Cdn ($11000US).
For you, it would be autotrader.com. Of course, there's always eBay Motors.
Have fun!
