Duct removal Volvo 1990 240dl

First of all you really don't have to remove it. Remove the glove box instead and you can easily see what you need to see to remove the clip and spring washer from the drive arm and the 6mm screw from the motor drive shaft.

If you must remove it there is a staple or two through the duct work at the blower housing, there are two rubber nubbies susupending the straight run from a bracket attached to the botttom of the dashboard cushion. The elbow at the right side face level vent is a snap/force fit at the vent housing and is a snap/force fit to the straight run. There may or may not be staples at that connection. In any case the staples are just to hold the assembly together during manufacture and aren'y necessary to maintain integrity after reinstallation.

My wife found the staples and pulled them out. She thought some %$#&^ put them in there to stop a rattle or something! I had no trouble taking out the ductwork once the staples were gone.

BTW: I had removed the glove compartment, but the ducts (as well as an audio amplifier) were directly in front of the wiper arm, clip, and motor shaft, making it necessary to remove them.
