getting rid of smell

Earlier in the week I put my gas powered weed eater into the trunk of my '91 240 and apparently got some of the 2 cycle gas (gas and oil mix) onto the carpet in the trunk. Since there is a CD changer bolted to the trunk floor I can't simply pull the carpet out so I need some way to get rid of the smell as it's making me sick when I drive. Would a foaming carpet cleaner work? And then vacuum it out? Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Open the trunk, set a fan blowing through it, and put a clamp-type work light on the trunk lip shining on the spot (not too close, you just want to warm it up). Opening the windows a few inches would be a good idea as well. That should clear out most of the odor in a couple of hours.

Carpet cleaner would work. One of those wet carpet cleaning vacuum things would be better. Shake a box of baking soda on it.

Why is the CD changer an obstacle? Simply unbolt it, pull the carpet out, wash the metal underneath with soap and water, dry it off, scrub the carpet with shampoo and hose that out, let it dry in the sun then reinstall.
