Lambada sensor

I've had replacement valves fitted and new headset etc on an 850 2.5l

10V, '94. The problem is I need to reset the lambda sensor.

A technician has suggested that I can do this for myself my removing the top of of the ecu and using a "flying lead" into pin 3 and using a sequence he has described make a note of the codes and then reset. I've got my doubts as I believe I may need an electronic kit in order to do this.

It was further suggested that once reset it may also be necessary to remove the battery connections for 15 mins in order to reset the sensor. Your help is apprecitated.

Unplugging the battery for 15 minutes will probably do the trick, as it causes the computer to 'forget' any previous fault codes. The problem with this is that you'll lose your current clock time, radio code and presets - hardly a big deal. This worked for my 240 in the past, not sure about the

850's.

You can also use the on board diagnostics to reset the system. I did that today actually in my 240 - it's great fun! I won't go through it here, because it's well documented at

Forgot to mention: you don't need any special tools or electronics to do this - the lead is on the side of the box.
