Can someone recommend a reasonable and honest independent Volvo mechanic in York Region or Greater Toronto Area? I own a 850GLT. Thanks david

I know you want an indy shop... but if you can't find one give Mc Millan and Saunders (dealership on Derry Road in Missisauga) a try... We've been taking our 1993 960 then there since we bought it from them (as well as 2 740's over the years before 93') and we've found them to be VERY honest... we've told them to find things wrong with the car and have them call back many times with "just an oil change" or "well your brake pads are getting a little old, but they will definately be fine until at least next time" - they've caught and fixed minor problems - loose hose clamps, they've been honest about the A/C system only needing one small pipe (200 bucks) and not the whole system (way over a grand)...

Now, we have been going there for years, so we may be a "prefered customer" - but we've only been going there for years because of the good service we received from the start.

I have had good experiences with the following shops which are pretty much "just Volvo":

  1. Apollo Garage on Bathurst just south of Dupont (ask for Rui)
416 535 9565

  1. Auto Service Plus at Queen and Dovercourt (ask for Mario)

416 588 3881

  1. South Scarborough Motors on Warden between St. Clair and Eglinton (ask for Dave)... these guys cheesed me off but they're still good overall. 416 288 9282

There's a new independant shop just opened a few months ago on Mt. Pleasant just north of Davisville but I don't know anything about them yet except that they put up a big sign that says "Volvo service" and their number 416 486 1722

If anyone knows anything about this last one I'd love to hear about it. It's the most convenient location for me out of the bunch.
