Locked out of my 460

Hello all,

Here's the story:

It was late at night, the neighbours were sleeping and I couldn't turn off the car alarm. There was no way around it, I flipped the lid and disconnected the battery. Problem solved! Oh no, problem only just begun.

I'd locked all the doors (using the battery operated remote central locking) before I disconnected the battery and now I am completely locked out of my car.

A few weeks ago thieves ruined the door key locking so I'd been relying on the remote locking. And that means that with no connected battery to open the car I am completely........... ****...... in trouble.

I need to open the bonnet manually in order to re-connect the battery. Can anyone here help/ advise before I am left with my best option so far; a brick through one of the windows :-(?

I can't aford a locksmith right now and I can't really do without the car untill I can afford one.

I would be very grateful for advice.

Regards Sammy

Dunno at all about the 460, but we can hope it is similar to the 760 in this respect: I can get ahold of the cable housing for the hood release under the car and yank on the housing. That releases the hood.

If you get desperate, you can call a road service. I've had to resort to them a couple times for "lock-outs" and for about $40 US they get the car open. I know money is short, but they are usually cheaper than a locksmith and cheaper than a window.

They got both but the boot lock is still okay. Any way I can get through that way?

Maybe, but this is usually made difficult on purpose. See if you can get to the release mechanism of the seatback.

Getting the hood open is probably not as easy as with a 2 series, but if you can remove the grill you're done.

or try removing the bellypan to get at the releasecable which runs between the two locks on the enginecompartmentside I don't think you can reach from underneath to get at the releasecable, but try

And, if you're member, the man from the AA will probably open your car in seconds

Do you have a bootlight not switched over the ignitionswitch? connect

+12v to the wire, and - to ground (use your battery charger) and use the remote

Thank you for the replies :-). For anyone who's interested, I got in by putting the rear seat down via the boot and opening a passenger door from there. It was an undignified and gymnastic experience but it was easy... and it worked. :-).
