S60 Hard start after refuelling

Hi group,



I've just picked up my first P2 Volvo, an '01 S60 T5.



The S60 runs beautifully apart from one problem. After refuelling, it is hard to start, and then requires some throttle to keep it from stalling for the first 5-10 secs. It feels like it is starved of fuel.



This is ONLY after refuelling, it doesn't happen if I stop the car for a couple of minutes and then start it again. I've done as many searches as I can and found someone with a similar problem, but no answers..



Both times (I've only filled up twice) the tank was only about 1/4 full and I was refuelling with either BP Ultimate or Shell Optimax here in the UK



I posted on Swedespeed and UK Volvo Owner's Club, and haven't heard anything conclusive back yet.



Any guesses???

I think you may have a fuel pressure issue. I know for a fact these cars have a pump on top of the tank that pressurizes the tank to detect leaks (it has a sensor for that). before you bleed off the resident pressure in the tank to refuel, the system is functional. Maybe a weak fuel pump or dirty fuel filter??? Filter is located on the right side of the car just ahead of the rear wheel. Really easy to change. Maybe you can cut it open to check if it is clogged (I do mine every time). Hope this helps...
