simple, but expensive

last night some punk hood did a b-b through my 245 '90 wagon rear window... it still intact (ya, keep the windows open so pressure doesn't blast it)

anyway, a local body shop will do the work for $60... the only number i found glass.com or something is $450... wow! i can do it myself, but that's not the issue, rather, what do rear windows go for??? ya, the 1990 changed from prior ones in size, so junk yards might be hard to find...

i got a 1981 wagon, maybe change the whole door... it's insured but the deductible is probably $200 and i've *never* done a claim... i'm stuck!

any suggestions??? pleeze!

First off check your coverage. It's been a while since I filed a glass claim, but at one time the deductible didn't apply to glass damage. Even if you have to pay the $200 deductible, just pay it and have a glass shop do the work. My recommendation would be to use Volvo glass, but the OEM stuff should be ok for the rear and a lot cheaper.

I've picked up a couple of full tailgates from '90+ wagons for $22 at the local yards around me, it varies all over the place though. Personally I'd just file an insurance claim and get it done right if the car is in good shape, or call around for a '90 or later and buy the rear window glass.
