Help! I have a 2001 XC wagon with 61 miles. Two days ago while driving 55 mph, my car just stopped accelerating and then stopped running. The "Engine failure" light came on. I waited five minutes and it started back up and was able drive again. It happened again yesterday. This time the light read "Engine Service required" Does anyone know what might be the problem?
It should store a fault code, I'd be curious to know what it says.
Also 61 miles? I'm assuming that's 61K?
This sounds like the V70 Electronic Throttle System problem. It is well documented and Volvo has an extended warranty on the Electronic Throttle System. It is covered for at more than 61 miles ;) Volvo has extended the warranty for the Magneti Marelli ETM to 10 years/200,000 miles. Contact your dealer.
