03 Passat brakes

Hi Everyone,

I have an 03 Passat, V6, 5-speed manual transmission. I was about to have the brake fluid replaced, when I noticed that I could push the brake pedal to the floor when the engine is running. I asked VW to look at it. They said the car was unsafe to drive, and the MC needed to be replaced, and it was done under guaranty.

Now the brake behaves exactly the same way as before. Any comment on this?

When I picked up my car, the mechanic mentioned that V6 Passats tend to do this, and he will call VW to find out more about this.

I am pissed off about a couple of things. First of all, to get the MC out, they just yanked the sheet metal between the engine bay and the cavity where the MC is with a plyer. Paint is gone in places, the metal is wrinkled, and does not match up with the plastic drip tray around the MC.

The car has a beige interior, now there are black greasy smears at some places.

The car was kept at the dealer overnight, I suspect it was used for running errands, it has 18 km more on it. Way too much for testing, I could see at the first corner that the brake was the same.

Thanks for listening, Peter

Search this group or the UK group. It was covered a few months ago. Rgds

I would be upset too for the poor repair. But 18km which I think is around only 12miles is well within what I call acceptable
