1992 Golf 1.8 8V Digifant

Hey guys I have a question. Can anyone tell me where I can get a really good manual for the Digifant engine out of a 92 Golf, either on the net or otherwise. I have a sensor here, that rotted out, it was connected to the right side of the block if your looking at it head on. Where the switch used to be, theres like a little nipple that pokes out and I can push it into the block and it just comes back out again. After this thing fell off, the overheat light keeps blinking in the car, but the thermometer is right where it should be, and besides it starts blinking right after I start it so theres no way it can overheat that fast. I have the Haynes manual for the car but for the life of me I cant figure out what the hell this sensor is, like I know what its done, but i wanna know what its connected to, what its called, and what other side effects it might have on the rest of the car. It's been like that for a while now, I'm too broke and dont have the time right now to do anyhting about it. For now I'd just like to short it or do something to get it to stop blinking, I'm thinking that it causes other stuff to work differently, cause the entire engine prolly thinks its in a state of overheating all the time.

Thanks Peter

On the coolant flange, there is a coolant temperature sensor that IIRC is wired into the A/C circuit. Grounding the wire may prevent the light from flashing, maybe not. Go to the dealer and explain the problem to the parts counter; the sensor is probably about $20, the flange about $15.

On my '89 the overheat light flashes when I'm low on fluid. I'm thinking this is your issue too.
